Adson Dissecting Forceps

Adson dissecting forceps, also known as Adson tissue forceps, are a type of surgical instrument used to grasp and manipulate tissues during surgical procedures. They are named after the American surgeon Alfred W. Adson, who developed the concept of fine-tipped forceps for use in neurosurgery.

Adson tissue forceps have a long, slender body with a  handle at one end and two slender jaws at the other. The jaws have a fine tip and are often serrated or have fine teeth, which provide a secure grip on tissue. The jaws may also have a locking mechanism to maintain a constant pressure on the tissue.

These instruments are commonly used in a variety of surgical procedures, particularly in plastic surgery, dermatology, and general surgery. They are useful for delicate dissection of tissues, for grasping and holding delicate structures, such as blood vessels or nerves, and for manipulating tissues during procedures.

Adson tissue forceps are particularly useful in procedures where precision is critical, such as in reconstructive surgery or in procedures involving delicate structures, such as in ophthalmic surgery.
